We are delighted to inform you that, following its wonderful success during the last school year, the children in St Patricks' NS will continue to participate in the Music Generation Carlow programme for the coming academic year 2019-2020.   Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class will all participate in the Early Years Primary School programme, facilitated by an experienced Early Years musician for 30 minutes every week.

Students from 2nd and third class will participate in whole class whistle learning where the emphasis will be on learning to read music and to play. Students in 4th and 5th class will participate in small group instrumental classes for 30 minutes a week on a number of chosen traditional Irish instruments.

Rathvilly NS has chosen to take on the ‘Music Rich’ Traditional Music initiative with Music Generation Carlow. Becoming a ‘Music Rich’ school is a prestigious honour for any school and asks the school to express a commitment to developing and nurturing performance music education from Junior Infants (Early Years music) right up to Sixth Class over the coming years.

School Concert
The children in the school hosted a concert for parents on Tuesday, 31st May. Each group of musicians put on a performance to be proud of and demonstrated the musical skills they have learned as part of the "Music Generation" programme in place in our school.  The children have music lessons every Tuesday and take home their specially allocated instruments to practice during the week.  Learning to play an instrument and read music is a wonderful skill that the pupils in St. Patricks' NS are lucky to enjoy as part of our school curriculum.
Thanks to all the parents and guests who took the time to attend this special event.
Some photos across of the children performing.
