Info for Parents/Guardians.
Please note that St. Patricks' NS will be closed on Monday, 18th March following the St. Patrick's weekend.
Our Easter break will take place from Friday, 12th April at 12 noon returning to school on Monday, 29th April.

Congratulations to our 6th Class pupils and their teacher Ms. Donegan who organised our "Green Day" on Friday, 15th March. All of the children and staff made a huge effort to wear something green and a small donation per child or family was requested. There was face-painting on the day also, which was an additional very popular fund-raiser.
Sincere thanks to everyone who made so much effort and supported this very worth cause.

Did you know that depending on how big it is, a plastic bottle can take up to 1,000 years to disintegrate!!

Recently, the "Eason's Spelling Bee Competition" was held in the hall, for all pupils in 5th and 6th classes. The spellings were tricky but everybody had a go and some people did really well. In the end, Aoibheann Curry (5th ) was crowned our school champion with Shane C. Dunne (6th) very close as runner-up. As a result, Aoibheann was nominated to represent St Patrick’s N.S. at the county final in Bennekerry N.S. She was a great ambassador for our school and had a great experience. Both Aoibheann and Shane were presented with their prizes of book tokens at our school assembly recently.

On the 27th of February, I went to Bennekerry N.S. to compete in the county final of the Eason Spelling Bee. I was shaking like CRAZY when we got in but I really enjoyed it in the end. I made it down to the last six and then I had to spell C-O-N-S-T-E-L-L-A-T-I-O-N!!! I will never ever forget that word!
The Spelling Bee might seem intense and nerve wracking (which it was!) but it was also actually lots of fun!

Enrolment for September 2019
We are currently taking enrolments for our Junior Infants class this September.
Should you be interested in enrolling your child or have any queries in this regard, please contact our school office between 9.00 am and 2.00 pm daily.
Alternatively, a copy of the form can be downloaded to print by clicking on this link

We would appreciate if all applications could be completed in full and returned with any relevant documentation to the office at your earliest convenience.

We were recently visted by Lorraine O'Sullivan from the Irish Heritage Council. She called in to see some of the classes in St. Patricks' NS to teach them a little more about some of Ireland's native animals and how they live. The children really enjoyed the visit and learned lots of interesting facts about nature.

Carlow Hospice Sunflower Competition
Before the Summer holidays, some of the school children bought a packet of sunflower seeds and planted them. It was a challenge to keep them watered during our hot summer but we had some amazing results. The children were asked to measure their sunflowers in September and bring in a photo of their plant. The measurements and photos were sent to the judges of the sunflower growing competition. We had entries from John Patrick Kehoe (Senior Infants) Leona and Seán Kelly( First and Fourth Class) Molly McGannon ( Second Class) and Zoe Hoenselaer (Third Class) All of these children were presented with a bag of bulbs at our first assembly in October. I have no doubt that these daffodil bulbs have been planted in their gardens and are quietly awaiting the arrival of spring!
on the 15 October, Mr O Connor received a letter informing us that Seán and Leona Kelly had scooped 1st prize with a sunflower measuring 330cms!!! In 3rd place came Zoe Hoenselaer with her sunflower measuring 249cms. Brilliant news!!
